Call for Submissions, Issue 11

The Crank specialises in poetry but will occasionally feature prose on commission. Most kinds of poetry will be considered, though poets who don’t engage with tradition are perhaps less likely to find a home here. That said, poems that are genuinely transgressive or subversive would be most welcome. A model that might be worth citing is the poetry of Baudelaire, which was risqué in content but conservative in form. (‘But Baudelaire is a relic of the 19th Century!’ Well, so is free verse.)

To be considered for Issue 11, send up to five previously unpublished poems to contact@thecrankmag.com with ‘Submission’ in the subject line. (Please don’t put your name anywhere in/on the file; your identity should be irrelevant to the quality of your writing.) Simultaneous submissions are fine as long as you withdraw again in good time.

The editor’s judgement is subjective but informed.
